[thelist] Single- or multiple-page articles?

on sites i had worked on, the later pages often didn't get read -- it
was too annoying to some users, others lost interest, others just
didn't notice...
authors felt it was a disservice...
from a maintenance perspective, one page is easier to maintain
and move around from template to template -- unless you've got a
top-notch CMS implementation that can handle this... i haven't
seen many real-world cases where this is true....
from a reader perspective, one page is definitely better... i can print
it (without hunting for a print version), i can scan it, do keyword
searches against the body of the entire article, etc...
i did experiment with multi-pagers once, but i quickly undid that
after testing and trying to maintain it...
