May I implore you NOT to do this? Use a "go" button instead. You're using a
dropdown for something it wasn't intended to do, and it also screws up my
experience if I accidently click the wrong choice as I'm scrolling, which
often happens in longer lists.

I hate dropdowns used as navigations without an action button. I really do.
But I'm sure I'm not the only one.
