In Australia, we've always had .id.au for individuals, but until this
month you had to register in a subdomain named after native flora or
fauna, for example

weiley.wattle.id.au
weiley.emu.id.au
weiley.dropbear.id.au

which limited its appeal. Now you can register any derivative of your
own name (if you're an Australian), so my daughter now has
violet.id.au

I reckon if you can get your first name, that's kind of cool. And as
long as they're cheap, I think they're a great idea for individuals.
But .name is too long, and sounds silly. .me and .id are both
snappier.
