I know you've probably already checked this, but ...

Do you have a message filter for [thelist] in the subject?

It's possible that some e-mail clients are using a "reply-to-all" that sends
replies to both you and the list. If this was the case, you'd get two
messages -- one directly from the person and the other copied to the list,
and they'd both wind up getting filed by your filter.

Check the message headers on the duplicates -- are they both coming from the
evolt server?
