On Mac OS X, PDF is a "native" file format, so you don't even need to
download Acrobat Reader anymore...

Having this on every page might become redundant. Perhaps a single
page/FAQ/about this website page that lists a link to where to download
Reader?
And since you brought up .DOC files....wouldn't it be nice to link to a
free ".DOC viewer" application for those that don't have Word installed?
