provided you make it a habit to go into your attachment folder everytime something comes in and move the attachments to an appropriate location.  that seems like far more hassle to me than it's worth and one more step to forget.

i'm well aware that outlook stores everything in a single file (not folder).  it's not hidden deep in the windows folder as you say.  it's actually in the "documents and settings" folder for the particular login that's using outlook.

you're right about the file being susceptible to corruption.  it happens once in a while.  there's a utility to fix it.  i've had to use it before.  it works very well.  i've got *lots* of mail on my computer.  my main pst file is nearing 1 gig and i'm not worried about it.  periodically i go through and archive really old stuff into separate pst files.

how long can it possibly take to copy a single pst file from one machine to another?
