Just a tip that sometimes people overlook. If at all possible keep the
hard drive and the cd/dvd-rom drives on different IDE channels,
especially if you have a newer HD and an older cd-rom. If two devices
on the same channel are compatible with different ATA spec the slowest
of the two is chosen.
Sticking an ATA-33 CD alongside an ATA-100 HD is going to limit your
HD's transfer speed, especially when using both simultaneously.
