Today, the cows mooved Richard Bennett to write:

According to WinXP Charmap, 3D is =.  So it sounds like your writer is
using double equal signs, or something.  If i knew perl regexes better i'd
offer a suggestion, but i only just started learning perl myself, and seem
to be blanking on syntax. . . .
