Other folks have already mentioned that Mac OS X ships with PHP installed,
but not enabled. The same is also true for the MySQL database server.

If you are not interested in mucking about the command line too much to get
these things enabled..

Or if you just like the double-clickable Mac-method of doing things..

Marc Liyanage has put together installers for PHP, MySQL, mod-ssl, and many
other goodies for Mac OS X.

He has comprehensive instructions and will actually respond to email
questions.
