i've been using the <label> tag for over a year now and don't think i've *ever* put the form element inside the <label> tag.  i think the suggested way of doing it lacks understanding of how alot of folks design their forms (ie, using tables).  i honestly don't think that not putting the element inside the <label> tag is a problem.
