[thelist] Password set-up on Unix/Apache

Hello Experts,

Need to know how to password protect a folder on a website that is being
hosted on Solaris (Unix)/Apache combo.

Aside from coding in password/username capability, I thought there was
an easier way to do this from the server itself? Am I wrong on this?
It's been a while since I had to deal with Apache (previous job and the
programming gurus actually were in charge of the pw/un administrating).....
