[thelist] anyone know a good (cough free cough) tool for making image backgrounds transparent?

If you want a good inbetween package you can always download the trial
for Adobe Photoshop Elements from their website.  I think it is a fully
working trial. Also, the full product is only about $100.00. Much more
reasonable than the full version, and yet it still contains a fair bit
of its functionality.
