Just one small thing - and I agree there is no "right" answer on this
- but I use base font set to 80% and style ems accordingly.
Many people have stated this is a no-go for mac users, but as Geoff
stated this isn't really true. Check out this screen shot from a Mac
IE 5.0 with text set to normal:

It's perfectly readable. Now, my parents read this site - they don't
see all that great - and they use a Mac and they have no complaints.
I also had a shot from IE4.5 and even though the text is a bit
smaller, its still very readable (and scaleable). There are few 4.5
users however, and my site busts in 4.5 anyway so font size is the
least concern there :)
The windows machines of course are no problem. My biggest concern on
the windows side was IE6, which changed the way they size fonts from
5.5 (which I kind of liked better). Type is slightly larger on IE6,
which I think is fine.
