Hello all!
Firstly, I'll cry a bit. Later, I'll explain my doubt:
Yesterday I went to a company, since they call me to install PHP
with Oracle support. I configured the Linux box, put the Oracle CD, launch
the installer (./runInstaller) and... no response (not a window open, not
a "wellcome to oracle installer", ... none). I started to look for info in
the net, and the only I could find is that this is a common problem and
there was no a clear solution to it ("be sure that your NumLock led is
off", said one / as a side note: it didn't run ;-)).
I decided to try to put the Oracle CD in my laptop, run the
Installer and... all perfect!. Obviously, they didn't accept my laptop as
production machine ;-) (and I don't want give my laptop to them!). The
only difference between the laptop and the production machine is:
- production machine is configured for oracle support
- production machine is redhat/laptop is debian
Well, then I explain my doubt: if I need _just_ install PHP with
oracle support (that is, if I only need the client part of oracle), is
mandatory configure the machine with all the steps oracle said? (create
partitions, users/groups, etc.?). Has some of you expertise with this?.
Thanks in advance,
Carlos.
