Roger,

The ultimate Access 2000 reference work is Access 2000 Developer's
Handbook, by Getz, Litwin & Gilbert.  (I suspect that by now they
have an Access XP version.)  I also use Professional Access 2000
Programming, by Balckburn, et al.

The system you describe doesn't sound too complex, if you have a
reasonable grasp of database concepts.  Access 2000 has various
wizards for creating databases for inventory control, billing, etc.
You might start there.

progresses.  And if you/they decide to look for someone with
substantial Access programming experience, I'm available.
