which is why you use version no. 4.
- you work from what will be root when in it's final place
site root relative
/necessary/page.htm
while including this in your header:
<base href=http://servername/directories/if/>
and then, when you move to your final destination all you have to do is
change your base tag
<base href="http://servername/">
and voilà you've removed your extra directories.
