[thelist] Want to have a map, and then a star to show my current location...

Hi Christian,

I have been wanting to do something like this myself, but have resorted
to having cities in my database and an image map with the city locations
as hot spots. (Something like this http://blogmap.fr.st/ but not in
flash.)

There is a program at http://www.xpenguin.com/ip-atlas.php which could
probably be modified to suit -- I had a go at this but ended up deciding
against it. Basically it takes the IP of the computer, used Net-Geo to
work out the longitude and latitude and then plots it on the map. I
didn't like their map (I like "clean" maps), and I didn't need to
convert IP to longitude/latitude, so it is a bit of a rewrite -- but it
probably has some useful code in there to adapt.

Hope this helps,
Rachel
