actually, despite richinstyle's idea of the correct order, it's still not
quite right.

it should actually be:

a:link
a:visited
a:hover
a:focus
a:active

if you don't define focus and active last, then the colors you specify for
either of those won't display when you click on the link.  instead, the
hover pseudo class color definition will be displayed instead (if
specified).

fwiw, i have never made it a practice of setting the focus pseudo class.  i
can see the benefit though.  maybe that's something i'll add to the way i
set up styles for links in the future.
