i did a bit of googling for ya

http://www.colorresources.org/color/ has a lot of really interesting tools,
all of which use javascript, so i'm not telling you to, um, borrow the code,
but it's there for you to read and understand and translate into vb6 if you
wish

one site that came up high on the search results for "rgb to hsb" is called
"vbspeed -- the visual basic performance site", but right now all it says is
"NOTE During the war with Iraq this site remains closed STRIKE AGAINST WAR"

somehow i just can't see bush and rummy and all those guys going "oh shoot,
call off the troops, the vb guys are mad at us"

and when did the war actually start?  i must admit i haven't had the tv on
for a few days...
