I'm not sure exactly what kind of features you're looking for, but I
recently downloaded the trial for Ulead PhotoImpact 8
http://www.ulead.com/.  I used to use version 5 a few years back.  I've
never been able to get the hang of Photoshop (nor the hang of the price
tag after the trial runs out) but I picked up on PI8's interface pretty
quickly again.  I'm not a designer by any means, I do simple graphics
stuff, and some photo editing, but I think the program is pretty top
notch.  You can get it for $79 if you do the web download, $89 if you
want the boxed set.  Here is a link to a product comparison between PI,
PSP and Elements (which I hear is really good too)

highlight PI's strongpoints.  None the less, I still like the program
and will most likely be buying it after the trial runs out, unless I
find something I like better.  If you find any programs you like, please
let me/the list know :)
