Or, alternately,

Convert the image to RGB. (Image -> Mode -> RGB Color)

Then change the Hue (Image -> Adjust -> Hue/Saturation)

Select "Colorize"




Or, alternately,

Convert the image to RGB. (Image -> Mode -> RGB Color)

Add a layer above the one you want to colorize

Fill the new layer in with an "overlay" color

Change the blend mode on the new layer to "Multiply".
