david, i think what you meant to say was yes, you do think
that it is bad practice, and so does yukka

i personally don't mind, like ron, if the purpose of the dropdown is
obviously to act as a "jump list"

what really pisses me off, though, is a jump list without a Go button,
because you cannot scroll through the list to see what's there without
risking accidentally going someplace

but like i said, if it's obvious, i don't mind a jump list

and anyhow, semantically, what is a form?  i've locked horns with the
aardvark over this before (say, where is that guy, anyway? he's, like,
hardly around any more), but semantically, you would be hard pressed to
define what the intended purpose of an html form actually is -- but let's
not go there, okay?

i don't personally use jump lists any more myself because a simple list of
links is a much better solution, aesthetically
