here's an example from another thread today:

pay particular attention to the form's instructions
for a special treat, see how these instructions are marked up in the html
see also the javascript redirect function, immediately preceding the form in
the source, and the way non-javascript users are supported
this is a wonderful example of how to do it correctly...
... assuming you've decided that it's okay to use a select list in this
manner
... which in this case i would say it most definitely is
