I'm not going to say that Steve knows nothing. That's certainly not true.
However he has no standing whatsoever in the real security community.

...and it's not just firewall vendors who diss him. Hang around some of the
serious security communities, or even the large systems administration
groups (which is where you'll also see a number of experienced network
engineers, security or forensics folks), and you'll quickly get an
impression that grc.com doesn't even register on the radar.

There are those that don't like Steve (www.grcsucks.com is a prime example).
Personally I find his advice, on the whole, worthwhile. However, there are
better places to get it, without the dud stuff/bum steers that he's prone to
give out.
