The fundamental flaw in the discussion is that there are no standards!
Those things that the W3C publishes are "recommendations"....not
"standards". And that is why browser manufacturers are free to do as
they please. If a browser manufacturer wants to create their very own
mark-up language they are free to do so. The problem of cross-browser
compatibility will always be an issue due to this.
