: What are other big reasons for using Access as a front
: end to SQL servers that you've come up with?:

Access is really two parts:
a) a front end tool (called Access for want of a better word)
    -and-
b) a database engine (or RDBMS), commonly Jet

SQL Server, on the other hand, is a RDBMS only.

So, using Access, you can choose not to use Jet, but connect to a different
RDBMS instead (such as Oracle or SQL Server). However, you can keep your
Access forms, reports and so forth. These don't exist, for example, in SQL
Server.

Cheers
Ken
