: Thanks Dan,
:
: The reason I'm choosing laptop is because I will be doing travel overseas
: and while I'm over there I will be training other people and doing
: presentations.
:
: Then when I come home I will be doing the same here.
:
: I'm not really interested in PowerBooks now. Where I will be overseas they
: will have G4 desktop's that I can check my sites in etc.
:
: It looks like the Dell Inspiron 8500 in the go.

Dell now has a 8600 model that will be available in Australia real soon now.
I would wait for that.

Why? you get the same specs as the 8500, but you get the Intel Pentium-M
chips, which give you better battery life, and/or lighter machines.

Otherwise, if you want a top-of-the-line machine, check Dell's Precision
M60. 7200 RPM hard disk, Pentium M 1.7 GHz, 1920x1200 resolution, 128 MB
video card etc.

Personally I got a Latitude D600:
a) 1400 x 1050 resolution is good enough for me on the road
b) I got the D-series Port Replicator + D-View stand for home, which puts
the laptop screen at the same height as my 17" flat-panel, allowing me to
easily use dual monitors
c) It weighs about 2.5 kilos, which is a *lot* lighter than the Inspiron
brick that I used to carry around.

Cheers
Ken
