In the end, Macromedia just wants to release some bits of software that 
change your site for you.

And how do they change the site? By adding the JavaScript solution.

So the offshoot of the conference (or however it was called) is that 
Microsoft has announced an IE update which theoretically does not violate 
the patent, but with two workarounds to violate the patent anyway.
Apple's and Macromedia's role consists of repeating this information.
