The question I have to ask here is, why? This is a rather usability 
problem, and could be interpeted as quite arrogantly assuming that once 
a link is visited the user won't want to visit it again.

I don't see any good reasons to do this to begin with, and I see a lot 
of reasons *not* to do this.
