Thank you to everybody who responded with useful information.

<tip type="Inverviewing Clients" author="Joshua Olson">
When you estimate out a project for a client, make sure you drive the train
and perform an in-depth interview of them AND their website needs. The
follow is a partial list of reasons why the interview of the client is
important:

1. It builds client confidence. The client will be able to see that you
are organized and professional if your interview is complete and
appropriate. This may set you above some of their other vendors if the
client hasn't specifically chosen your services yet.

2. It builds your confidence. Remember that you should consider not only
the project itself, but also the client, when deciding to start working on
the project. The interview process will also help you determine if YOU want
to work with the client. The more you talk with them the easier it will be
to determine if they'll engage in the build process and pay you on time. Do
spend a little time talking about their history, management organization,
and future goals.

3. Better service. The more you understand the client's business the
easier it'll be to anticipate their needs.

4. More profit. You'll waste less time on the build process when the
client needs a change because there is a greater chance that you'll discover
the needed feature in the design stage.
