Cool, I'll look into my options for buying a modem.  After a year it would
be paid for.  

I think that you can get a signal booster for your cable line, which may
help?  Comcast's first step I always to unplug the modem and let it sit for
a moment, they are just reading the how-to screen on their computer.  Are
you on a PC or a Mac?  I use a Mac, so I am not sure what proper technical
steps would be on a PC...if any exist for such a problem?  Is your Cable TV
reception fuzzy or bad at the same time your Internet access hangs up?

You can test your connection against others in your area, and post your test
results.  There is also a good bit of info here.  Maybe you can find someone
else who has had the same problem, and fixed it?  Here's the link to the
