Even I have installed Apache/PHP/mysql on NT/2000/XP as a total newbie (newbie as in I didn't even know that a Windows shortcut was the same thing as a Mac alias). Piece 'o cake. I see no reason to do an all in one so long as you take a few minutes to read the installation instructions once before starting the installation. Just make sure you download the binaries, not the source code.
