[thelist] show/hide layers

hello,

i'm wondering if i can please get some assistance.

i've got a page that has a layer that shows/hides when a link is clicked.
when the layer is visible i do not want it to overlap any elements on the page,
but push the content down to fit it in. when the layer hides, i want the
remaining content to move up to fill the empty space.

is this possible?
