Don't worry too much about Google. It is the only search engine I use but 
you will almost certainlyl lose more from people not finding the site or, 
much worse, someone hijacking customers with near misses in spelling.

I have got a virtual site that has a long name and have several other 
shorter DNS's for it.

Secure everything that you think is needed quickly. Then look around for the 
best way to  draw in the most customers.
