Hmm, I am wrong on that.  :first-line (and :first-letter, as you guessed)
are fine in IE 5.5; but for some reason using a percentage on h1:first-line
gives IE 5.5 the shivers.  Change it to 16px (h1's 24px * .7) and it's OK.
