In defense of Dr Burns his tutorials date back to circa 1997 when the 
web was a very different place. I bought a copy of the book back then 
and it taught me to hand code html; like everyone else I have been 
learning ever since. IIRC internet.com bought him out a good few years 
ago and he is no longer involved with the site. The site has been 
virtually static since which is why it is in the sorry state it is today.

Anyway... a more up to date site that promotes semantic, standard 
compliant code is htmldog.com[0].
