Don't give up! There are lots of great things you can do to make the user
experience that much better using client-side scripting.
Might I suggest that IE isn't the most useful environment when it comes to
debugging. Try firefox[1]: it has a great JavaScript console, which makes it
much easier to find and fix problems you might be having.
