In 1998, a friend of mine produced a film that was going to be featured
at the SXSW festival. I was doing graphics and layout for an Austin
magazine at the time, and had done an ad and poster for him. He decided
he'd like a Web site as well. I volunteered. I downloaded a trial
version of a Dreamweaver and knocked a very simple site together over a
weekend. That led to working through a couple of online HTML and Web
graphics courses, and lots of books. Seven years and a dozen or so Web
sites later, I'm still learning most things online.
