[thelist] Tips for planning content delivery?

Handling of loads of documents can pose problems but you are taking the
right first step in facing potential blocks as your first line of action.
"Logistics" are your friend. Categorize everything into as many small groups
as you can, then re-evaluate and regroup into larger, sensible groups. For
example, grapes, apples, bacon and sausage can be grouped into "fruit" and
"meat" and then regrouped into "food products". Items that do not fall
neatly into a category can be labeled under "Other" or "non-related items".
Outlines are also your friend.

Almost as important, if not more, hand over the documents to the developer
in an as-is fashion. Expect he/she will provide the content on the website
exactly as you have delivered it, unorganized and riddled with mistakes.
Also create an understanding with the developer that you would like a means
of proofing the resultant web pages and providing any necessary changes -
doing this in orderly steps will help.

<snip> our hundreds of
documents as well as web copy written for the new web site. This seems
like a project fraught with potential problems.
Can people who have done this before post ideas on organizing this
thing-and pitfalls to avoid?<end snip>
