[thelist] Online results database

Hi, I am needing to build a few pages that will display results and
possibly reports of games in a sports tournament. There will be multiple
users updating. Having never worked with online databases before (yes, I'm
still living in the 20th century), any suggestions on what combination of
database and programming language to use? Or, preferably, is there
anything out there that I can just plug in with some basic configuring?
