[thelist] How to Avoid Cache

I work on an Windows IE6-only site and we have attempted to setup our system
to avoid caching problems. The problem is that when the HTML and external JS
are both updated, sometimes a user will report a JS error, due only to the
fact that he is getting old JS in his cache. This causes an error with his
new HTML. Shift-refresh fixes the problem.

Can anyone say from experience which directives (headers or META) work in
Win IE6?

This page:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;222064

has an interesting solution. Seems a bit odd.

I am also aware that some ISPs may do caching and I am not certain that all
of them 'obey' the no-cache directives correctly. Any thoughts are
appreciated.

Thanks,
Hershel
