[thelist] how to adjust color settings on LCD?

hi! so i just got a new wide screen notebook for work (yay!) but the 
colors on the screen are too saturated, compared to my 19" trinitron. i 
know there are color correcting tools/programs out there but was 
wondering if anyone knew of any free tools out there. i'm asking this 
because many websites out there that use lighter colors tend to come up 
looking fairly different, some colors even render as a different hue!
