[thelist] MS SQL Server: database replication over ADSL connection?

Hi,

I have a webserver, in a hosting facility, that's running MSDE 2000. I also
have a local server running MS SQL Server 2000. The local server is at my
end of 2Mbps ADSL connection.

If I change my webserver over to MS SQL Server, is it feasible to use
database replication between the two servers? The reason for wanting to do
it is (a) as an easy way of having an up-to-date copy of the database in the
office, and possibly also (b) so that we can make local changes to the data
and have them automatically copied back to the webserver.

Is this going to work over a network connection that's not incredibly swift
and might not be reliable? If the connection drops out what will happen?
Will the remote SQL Server (and hence my website) grind to a halt? Will I
lose data?

Good idea? Stupid idea? Any thoughts / experiences gratefully received.

Ta

Jason
