Need to send messages to cell phones from a website?  Don't want to
subscribe to an SMS Service for those few messages?  This link has some good
information about sending text messaging using SMTP, including the email
domain for most major carriers in the US and Canada:

Before you could port you home phone number to your cell phone, it would've
been able to cross reference the area code and prefix of a number to a
specific carrier and determine, just from the phone number itself, the
appropriate carrier.  But, with phone number portability, that is no longer
possible.
