[thelist] FW: B2B Seamless login

Hi

I develop and maintain a uniform ordering application for
business-to-business use. Each user logging in can see a list
of their own store's employees and order history.

One question we have been asked a number of times by customers is

"can our users log in using the name and password they are
given to use our intranet".

This sounds to me like a single sign-on or seamless login
solution, the users going off to a third party site (us) from
their intranet but with some kind of check in the background
at our end to validate the location and user details.

My only thoughts on this is that we would need to setup some
kind of mirror of their user base, but how do we cope with
checking their passwords, maintaining new users and leavers,
tying up their usernames with our roles and privileges, etc.?

Does anyone have any links or advice to point me in the right
direction? (c# / asp.net application btw).

TIA
Les Lytollis
