I did not notice it either, because it was wayyyy off in the upper right 
of my monitor, while the fixed-width page layout was way off on the 
other side of the screen. InformationWeek apparently doesn't test their 
pages on monitors with more than 1024x768 resolution...

Tricky little gimmicks like that need something real nearby, else they 
won't be noticed.  The accursed flash banner ad on the other hand drew 
my attention, again and again. grrr.
