Hey John,

Are you *sure* you 'scratched around' for hardware? ;-P

With very little 'pecking', I came up with some interesting options:

4XEM seems to make several wireless webcams. Some with pan/tilt
controls.

But this Linksys model looks snazzy enough to simply scream "chicken
cam"!

Granted, depending on distance, you may or may not need one or more
'signal repeaters' as well ... in order to connect the wireless webcam
to your home network ... (or a couple of bucks to one of the folks
close enough to 'catch signal' to let you plug in a piece of kit) [1]
... but the technology seems to be available.

HTH,

RonL.

[1] This kind of practice was/is actually very common in the 'business'
world. A company will rent "closet" and "roof" space in a building
close to a telco pop ... they lease a dedicated telco circuit to the
closet ... take it up to the roof and 'line of sight' microwave it
back to the building their people/machines are actually in. They
save big money.

In 'the early days' of the net it wasn't uncommon for ISPs to 'lease
space' in residential homes close to telco pops for the same reasons.
Heck, some may still do this.
