thanks for the earlier help with placing a svg image into the html and 
have it validate.

i would like to know how to use a svg image as a background image.  i 
have tried to figure it out myself, but to no avail.  of course, it must 
pass the w3c validator.

i would appreciate a link to a solution or a solution from a member of 
the list.
