A good point.
If the machine is a dedicated version control system server, it won't
need to be defragged because it will not become (significantly) fragged
in the first place.
Version control is naturally additive. Fragmentation only occurs when
files are deleted, and files are never truely *deleted* in CVS (for
example), they just cease to be included in the current version.
If you use it for a file server, you will introduce more fragmentation.
If you use it as a SETI at Home client, you will introduce more
fragmentation.
