[thelist] sending mail with unknown alias to /dev/null

hi

am i right in thinking that if i were to specify certain aliases for a
domain then any incoming mail that didnt match would get bounced back?
ie suspending a catch all mail account.

is it possible, instead of bouncing back, to send it to /dev/null so
that at least any mail doesnt clog up the mail box? that way at least
sendmail isnt being tied up. or would doing this utilise sendmail? it
would be nice to send bounce messages back but in this day and age, that
courtesy is long gone. shame. /shrugs. what can you do?

anyway, so how would i do this and would it be a good idea to reduce the
amount of spam arriving?

i am using linux so virtualusertable / aliases / sendmail.cw would be
the files i use.

best
Alex
